Eligibility:
You are qualified to register to vote in Ohio if you meet all the following requirements:
- You are a citizen of the United States
- You will be at least 18 years old on or before the day of the next general election. (If you will be 18 on or before the general election, you may vote in the primary election to nominate candidates, but you cannot vote on issues or party central committees until you are 18)
- You will be a resident of Ohio for at least 30 days immediately before the election in which you want to vote
- You are not incarcerated (in prison or jail) for a felony conviction under the laws of this state, another state, or the United States
- You have not been declared incompetent for voting purposes by a probate court
- You have not been permanently disenfranchised for violating the election laws.
You are eligible to vote in elections held in your voting precinct 30 days after you are duly registered to vote in this state. You may request an absentee ballot during that 30 day period.
Identification for Registering to Vote:
A person who registers or updates their voter registration needs to provide at least one of the following:
- An Ohio Driver’s License number or Ohio State ID card number (Example: AB123456)
- The last four digits of the voter’s SSN. (Example: xxx-xx-1234)
Note: Beginning on April 7, 2023, any person ages 17 and over who applies for and receives a state ID card from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) may receive it for free.
How to Register to Vote:
You may register to vote in person or by U.S. mail. Registrations may not be submitted by email. Registration forms to print out or quick, easy online voter registration can be found at: VoteOhio.gov
You can register in-person at the Board of Elections office in the Coshocton County Services Building at 724 S. 7th Street, Room 100, Coshocton, Ohio 43812 or at one of the following designated agencies:
- Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles
- Coshocton County Job and Family Services
- Coshocton County WIC
- Coshocton County Treasurer
- Coshocton County Public Library
Registration Deadlines:
You must register or update your voter registration no later than 30 days prior to an election. Upcoming voter registration deadlines for Coshocton County are:
- February 20, 2024 for the March 19, 2024 Presidential Primary
- October 7, 2024 for the November 5, 2024 General Election
If you register or update your information after the deadline, the change will apply for the next election.
Registration Cancellation:
Have you moved out of Ohio? If so, you are encouraged to cancel your Ohio registration by completing the voter registration cancellation form available here and mailing it to your county Board of Elections for the county in which you previously resided. You cannot use online registration system to cancel your Ohio voter registration.
